FUNDRAISING Volunteer Form Everyone who has a boy or girl skating for the high school, including Weston girls, or
middle school is a member of the Wayland Hockey Association. The WHA mission is to raise the funds
necessary to maintain boys' and girls' high school, middle school, and developmental
programs in Wayland and Weston. Ultimately,
by fundraising, the cost of playing hockey is kept affordable. As you are aware,
hockey in Wayland and Weston is very popular at every level. We also participate fully in our community though activities such as supporting the Cam Neely House for cancer care, and the recent support for a local coach whose family is in need.Maintaining a youth hockey program takes the efforts of many volunteers working
together for the benefit all children that want to follow their passion for hockey.
Our fundraising requires only a few hours of your time, and that is what we want to
emphasize. By working together, with many
volunteers we can raise the necessary funds and keep ice hockey strong in Wayland
without investing countless hours. Here are some annually scheduled fundraising events: Raffles & Sales: The annual Sale/Raffle is held in the fall. The
boys and girls set up tables and posters at the Town Transfer Station or local coffee
shops · We need seniors who can lead an event.· We need an adult or two who can get the kids started.· Help keep track of the cash collected.
The boys and girls sell raffle tickets or merchandise for a few hours. Thats all
the time that is required for this event. Annual Golf Tournament: The Annual Golf Tournament, with the Wayland Boosters, will be held in the fall. The tournament is organized with the help of the
Sandy Burr Country Club. Since the golf
tournament has been held for many years, much of the mailing and contact information is
already assembled. All mailings are taken
care of in advance of the tournament. Here is
where we could use your help: · Volunteers are needed to contact local Wayland and Weston businesses for contributions of raffle items.· Sale of tee sign advertising to businesses and other organizations.· Most important to enlist golfers to play in the tournament.· On the day of tournament we need help with registration and on the golf course for the various skill events like the hole-in-one.All it takes is a few hours of your time to make phone calls and help make the golf
tournament a success! Hockey Game Programs For three years we have combined the girls and boys hockey teams into one program book
which is handed out at games. Sponsors are
needed for advertising in the program. Do
you know businesses that would like to sponsor our hockey programs? If so, a few hours of your time can make our game
program a success and provide low cost advertising for our sponsors. Hundreds of these programs are read, not only by
Wayland and Weston parents, but by others attending the games. The books become keepsakes for families.
This is very effective sponsor advertising! Many
of us patronize local businesses and we appreciate their support. Alummi
Outreach Submit Articles/Pictures to Newspapers and for Internet Website Writing an article or taking a picture for the Town Crier, Wayland eNews, and for this website keeps our boys and girls teams efforts in front of the community. Community Service We have adopted the Cam Neely house for our community service projects. If you can bake for a bake sale or help collect household items to contribute to the Neely House it would go a long way to assist a very worthy cause. Details on the Neely House can be found at www.camneelyfoundation.com/neelyhouse/index.phpAs you have read, we are not asking for many hours of time, just a few hours to help
make our fundraising and other goals successful. We
need your help! Please review the attached form and contact any board member if you have any questions; please volunteer!Thank you. Spencer Ball |
