 Championship 2011-2012 Wayland Middle School Hockey Team!
Sunday, February 12th, at the New England
Sports Center in Marlborough, MA, the Wayland Middle School team was playing in its
fourthconsecutive championship game and the team won its third championship in four years
3-1 versus a tough Grafton team.
After a scoreless first period, Bobby Jones
opened the scoring with 2:01 left in the second period off the playmaking of Tommy
Cope and Joey Christakis. With 0:51 left in the second period, Bobby Jones
with assists from Christian Boschetto and Joey Lydon put the Warriors up 2-0. To
help in the effort, the Warriors stellar goaltending tandem of Andy Ludwig and Blaze
Cormier shut out the Grafton attack for two periods.
After scoring early in the third period to
pull to within one goal, Grafton kept the pressure on the Warriors. With an
enthusiastic crowd behind them, the Warriors defense shut down the potent Grafton
onslaught. With 0:51 left in the third, Joe Christakis sealed the deal with an
unassisted open net goal.
Coach Rob O’Reilly was
again masterful in leading the team to victory.
